Mangalore : The Fire Services Department in Mangalore can now boast of having an hi-end Aerial Ladder Platform which helps fire service men rescue people caught in high rise buildings and also to put out fire easily.
Until now, only Bangalore and Hubli in the state had such a vehicle. The Aerial Ladder Platform has been imported from Finland at a cost of Rs 4.94 cores and can help firemen reach out to people in buildings upto 32 meter heights. Moreover fire can also be extinguished easily using this vehicle.
The Aerial Ladder Platform named Bronto Skylift has been mounted atop a truck of the Volvo company and will be manned by two personnel.
