Churches to ring bells tmrw as respect for healthcare workers-1

Mangaluru: People will be able to hear the sound of all church bells in the Mangalore Diocese at around 5 pm on Sunday, March 22.

This move is being taken by the churches in accordance with the directions of Mangaluru Bishop Most Rev Peter Paul Saldanha. In order to express gratitude to the health workers who have been working hard to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and in answer to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to clap for the health professionals, the Bishop called on all churches of the Mangalore Diocese to the ring the church bells simultaneously at around 5 pm on Sunday.

Mangalore Diocese PRO Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, in a press release informed that the Bishop had given this call to express solidarity, appreciation and gratitude to the medical, nursing and paramedical personnel who are offering their precious service to protect the people from the pandemic. As airlines and emergency transport personnel also risk their lives to aid the victims of coronavirus, all the Churches of the Mangalore Diocese should respect them by ringing the church bells.
