Mangaluru: The vegetables and fruits wholesale dealers from the central market have been asked to move their activities to the APMC yard in Baikampady.
Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, in a press release, informed that the wholesale dealers of Central Market should shift to APMC yard. The public is not allowed to enter the APMC yard. They should purchase groceries and other essential commodities only from the grocery shops located near their homes.
Only retail shop owners are allowed to purchase from the APMC yard.
However, the wholesale dealers of the Bunder area can continue their vending activities in the same area itself. The unloading of goods will be allowed at the Bunder area between 7 am and 12 noon. Later, the wholesale dealers can sell their goods to retail shop owners between 1 pm and 7 pm at Bunder.
The movement of all types of private vehicles will be banned after 12 noon in the police commissionerate limits. However, there will be little changes in rural areas with regard to the movement of private vehicles. In rural areas, movement of two and three wheelers will be allowed and if people hire jeeps, this will also be allowed. However, only two persons (including the driver) will be allowed to ply in autorickshaws and jeeps. More persons will be allowed for the transport of goods.
Health workers and journalists allowed to ply private vehicles
The DC also informed that health workers and journalists will be allowed to ply their private vehicles at any time during the day. They need to show their identity cards issued by their respective institutions to the police when they are waylaid. In case of medical emergencies, people can contact the toll-free number 108 and 1077, the press release informed.
