Central Market open from 11 pm to 4 am only for wholesale dealers

Mangaluru: In order to prevent crowding at the Central Market, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has decided to allow only wholesalers inside the market from April 1.

MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde, in a video message, informed that retail shop owners shall, henceforth, purchase commodities from wholesalers in the Central Market between 11 pm and 4 am and should finish their purchasing activities during this time.

Later, the Central Market will remain shut for all other activities. The MCC will arrange alternative arrangements for those who operate retail shops in the Central Market area.

The Surathkal Market will also shut be from April 1 and vendors of this market will be provided a separate location for their activities. The public should not panic over the availability of essential commodities and can purchase groceries and other essential commodities between 7 am and 12 pm from their local shops, he informed.
