Mangaluru: On the request of Fisheries Minister S. Angara, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has released 8822 KL (KL = 1 thousand liters) of kerosene to Karnataka.
Due to the shortage of supply of kerosene fishermen were in trouble. Fisheries leaders had requested Minister S. Angara to request the central government to release excess kerosene.
The minister had appealed to the central government through the state’s Department of Food and Civil Supplies. Senior officials of the Fisheries Department have been asked to contact the Union Petroleum Ministry.
Union minister DV Sadananda Gowda, BJP state president, and parliamentarian Nalinkumar Kateel, and with the cooperation of MPs from coastal areas, Minister S. Angara has been able to release kerosene.
The Ministry of Petroleum has issued a letter to the Commissioner of Food and Civil Supplies of the state saying that the government will release 7020 KL of kerosene oil and 1802 KL of non-subsidized kerosene at the Center’s request by 2021.
