Mangaluru: MLA UT Khader opined the budget proposed by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa lacks a vision for development.

Addressing media at Congress Bhavan on Friday, March 12 MLA said, “The recent State Budget presented by the CM failed to focus on steps to bring economic stability.”

He said “The budget lacks a growth vision. The government failed to prioritize the growth of undivided Dakshina Kannada in its budget. People from backward classes were totally overlooked in the budget.”

“Vokkaliga and Lingayat community will each receive Rs 500 crore from the government. However, only Rs 1,500 crore is allocated to the development of the other backward classes, which include 17 communities. What is the reason for this discrimination?” Khader questioned.

The MLA also challenged the government’s decision not to lower diesel and petrol duties. “There is no initiative in place to provide youth with work opportunities. The fishermen’s group has been totally ignored by state budget” he added.

“The government must allocate funds for the district’s development in the next supplement Budget,” he said.

In response to the death of Preksha, a 17-year-old girl, Khader said that it is the government’s responsibility to conduct an impartial investigation into the case by establishing a separate police wing.

To combat the drug problem, he also suggested that the government create a separate narcotics police wing.
