Bribery: Village Accountant caught red-handed by ACB officials

Belthangady: A Village Accountant has been caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while taking bribe.

Village Accountant Manjunath of Mithabagilu village, Belthangadi taluk and his assistant Ramesh were arrested by the ACB on charges of taking bribe.

Social activist Pradeep Gowda Chowkibettu, a resident of Mithabagilu village had applied to the Taluk Office for transferring the documents of the land owned by his grandmother to his mother’s name. However, the officials did not respond to Pradeep’s application. When the procedures were inordinately delayed from the time of application, Pradeep approached Manjunath and Ramesh who demanded a bribe to get the work done. A reluctant Pradeep complained to the ACB about the incident.

A team of ACB officials led by ACB SP Uma Prashanth caught Manjunath and Ramesh red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs 3000 from Pradeep and the duo were taken into custody.

ACP DySP Manjunath Kouri, Circle Inspector Yogish Kumar, Mohan Kottari, Hariprasad, Umesh, Radhakrishna, Prashanth, Radhakrishna D A, Vaishali, driver Ganesh and Rakesh carried out the operation.
