Brahmakalashotsava to be held from Jan 22 to Feb 3, prepping underway

Mangaluru: As the Brahmakalashotsava rituals of Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari temple will be held between January 22 and February 3, preparations are being carried out in full swing.

Moodbidri MLA and honorary president of the Brahmakalashotsava committee Umanath Kotian told reporters here on Monday, January 20, that rituals like ‘Suvarna Dhwaja Pratishte’ (on January 24), Nagamandala (on February 1), ‘Kotijapa Yajna’ (on February 2) and ‘Sahasra Chandika Yaga’ (on February 3), will be held during the 13-day religious rituals. For the success of the programme, a total of 30 committees have been formed for different purposes. Besides that, over a lakh volunteer had come to the temple to provide their services over the past 30 days.

Informing about the development works undertaken to facilitate the devotees Kotian said, “Petty shops located in front of the temple have been moved and the whole area has been asphalted. A public toilet has been built at a cost of Rs 50 lakhs. A lodge ‘Bhrahmari’ with 36 rooms has been constructed. A steel bridge to access the temple, elephant shelter and park have been built recently.”

“Measures were taken to widen the roads from Kinnigoli to Kateel via Ullanje and the road from Bajpe to Kateel at a cost of Rs 25 crores. Several connective roads to the temple have also been repaired and temporary by-pass roads have also been made. The intention of the committee is to ensure that the devotees who attend the rituals do not face any issues,” Kotian said.

Meanwhile, he informed that a special pass has been arranged for devotees, dignitaries, guests and artists attending the Brahmakalashotsavam. An ID card has been arranged for all volunteers involved in the event to avoid any confusion during the festival. 

Kotian requested the public to cooperate with the volunteers for the successful completion of the Brahmakalashotsava programme.

Reception committee president Sanath Kumar Shetty Kodettur, member Dr Ashajyothi Rai, temple’s hereditary trustee Vasudeva Asranna, priests Anantapadmanabha Asranna, Sriharinarayanadasa Asrana were present.
