Bondel Church to hold ‘Bondel Fiesta 2020’ at church grounds on Jan 25, 26

Mangaluru: St Lawrence Church and Shrine, Bondel is organising “Bondel Fiesta 2020” at the church grounds on January 25 and 26.

Parish priest Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza told reporters here on Wednesday, January 22, that the fiesta is being organised for the second year in a row as last year, they received a good response from the people of all religions in and around the city. This year, around 12000 to 15000 people are expected to attend the event. Both veg and Non-veg delicacies will be served to tickle the taste buds of the foodies. Entertainment and fun games will be the arranged every minute to keep up the spirits of the participants. Lucky draw, housie (traditional and creative), team games, live singing, musical evening etc. will make the Bondel Fiesta the place to be on these two days.

Around 40 stalls will be at the fiesta and will be dedicated to games and food. A face painting counter will also be present to provide a festive and colourful look to the gathering. This year’s special attraction be a live sketching and painting by a renowned artist Nirupam Konwar from Guwahati, who is currently based in Bengaluru. His paintings will be put up for auction during the fiesta.

As part if the festivities, A unique fashion show called “Start Chef of Fiesta”, is being organised for the homemakers on January 25 at around 5.30 pm. Another event called “talented siblings”, is being arranged for all on January 26. ‘Star of Fiesta’, a competition where individual pictures are posted in the Bondel Fiesta Frame and shared among the social media groups, is also being held. The picture with the highest number of likes will be declared the ‘Star of Fiesta’ and will receive a cash award of Rs 5,555.

On January 26 at 6 PM, Mangaluru Bishop Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha will launch the CD ‘Mogachi Lara’ composed by Vincent Fernandes Cascia, he informed.

St Lawrence Church, Rev. Fr Clifford Pinto, Principal St Lawrence English Medium School, Reginald D’Souza, Vice President Pastoral Parish Council, Stevan Noronha, Secretory Parish Pastoral Council, Manoj Lewis, Co-ordinator Cultural and Entertainment Committee were present.
