Bantwal: Modi speaks of secularism, only time will tell how much it is practised by the cadre who might be emboldened by the magnitude of the BJP’s victory. In an astonishing incident at Kambalabettu in Vitlamudnoor village near Vittal a few BJP supporters celebrated by vandalizing a Mosque.

As the BJP celebrated its historic victory in the national election on May 16, some people entered the compound of a mosque, burst crackers, and pelted stones at the mosque. When the Mosque Management protested, it became a verbal  duel and the situation got intense; however Vittal police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Reportedly BJP workers from villages like Urimajalu, Kambalabettu, Shantinagar and other parts of the district were cherishing their glorious triumph when the incident took place.

Members of the mosque managing committee have registered a complaint which stated that a few of them got down from the vehicles, entered the compound of the mosque, and burst crackers. A window pane of the mosque was shattered in the incident, it is said.

A case against Ramdas Kambalabettu, Sunit Karyady, Ganesh Urimajalu, Nandakumar Kambalabettu, Harish Urimajalu and others was registered in Vittal police station.
