Mangaluru: Close on the heels of a woman having been nabbed while trying to supply ganja to an undertrial in the district jail, right wing organisation Bajrang Dal has demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident.
Suspecting it to be an incident of ‘Love Jihad,’ Bajrang Dal convener (Mangaluru division) Bhujanga Kulal in a press release, has urged the police department to conduct a thorough investigation into the case stating that no one should fall victim to ‘Love Jihad.’ As the woman, who allegedly procured ganja to an undertrial Musthafa, has been pursuing her higher education in Mangalore University, a hidden agenda must be behind the case, stated the release adding that a higher level inquiry must be conducted.
What is the incident?
The City Crime Branch (CCB) police on Thursday, October 11, had nabbed a 25-year-old woman, who allegedly was supplying ganja for an inmate of the district jail Musthafa. According to the sources, the woman was frequently visiting district jail under the pretext of meeting Musthafa, an accused in a murder case. It is said that though the woman was a resident of Sullia taluk, she was staying at her relatives’ house in Vamanjoor. She was befriended by Musthafa, whose house is also located in the neighbourhood. It is said that though Musthafa was jailed owing to a murder case, he was released on bail. The duo fell in love with each other later. But very recently, Musthafa was jailed in another case. Despite being in jail, he was in touch with this woman. As he was addicted to ganja, he had asked the woman to procure ganja for him. Based on a tip-off, the CCB police had nabbed her in the act and seized 20 grams of ganja from her. However, the woman was released on bail.
