Karkala : In a shocking incident, an Anganavadi teacher inflicted burn injuries on a child with a hot laddle, agitated by the child which was continuously crying after its mother left it at the Anganavadi. The incident took place at Arjeddu in Kukkundur village.
The little girl who faced the severe punishment of the teacher is Harshitha (3), daughter of Manikanta of Tamil Nadu origin. It is learnt, the teacher agitated by the crying of the girl, used a hot ladle to punish the girl who was injured on her cheeks and hands. The incident came to light when the child explained about the punishment to its parents who noticed the burn marks on its face and hands.
This incident has underlined the need for the departments concerned to take serious cognizance of such cases and initiate stern action against the erring teachers.
