Mangalore: Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has said that all arrangements are complete for the counting of votes of Lok Sabha elections to be held on May 16.
Addressing a press meet at his office on Wednesday May 13, the DC also gave details about the arrangements. He said the counting staff will be given information about the room and table where they have been deputed, in the presence of the observers after 5 am on May 16. The staff will have to produce the authorised ID card and other documents mandatorily, he said.
All counting staff will be provided conveyance facility from their place of stay to the counting centre at Bondel. The counting officials will have to be present at the centre at 6 am, the DC said and added that vehicles coming to the centre will have to be parked near the KHV Colony and Women’s Polytechnic. First aid facility will be provided and ambulance will be kept at stand-by at the centre, he said.
A large screen has been put up at Town Hall to facilitate public to watch details about counting. Bhasker Atmaram Savanth, the Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India has already arrived and will be present during counting, he said,.
The DC also gave a demonstration on how counting will be done through the EVM.
Sadashiva Prabhu, Additional DC, Khader Shah, District Information Officer and other officials were present.
