Mangaluru: Animal Care Trust (ACT) is organising pet adoption camps on April 27 and 28 Mangaluru and Kolya respectively. The highlight of adoption camps organised by ACT is that desi breeds of puppies and kittens are put up for adoption. “Being Indians we should adopt Indian breeds. Let us give them forever homes of loving families. Let us make them feel wanted,” says Suma R Nayak, Trustee of ACT.

On April 27, a camp will be organised at Anirvedha, Resource Centre for Psychological Wellbeing, behind Sulthan Gold, Kankanady Bypass Road, Mangaluru in association with ANIRVEDHA and Wag-ville, Bengaluru. The camp will be held between 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM.

A workshop on Animal Assisted Therapy will also be conducted on the occasion. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) includes animals in the intervention to bring about the therapeutic change especially in children with special needs. AAT has shown improved overall emotional wellbeing, better stress coping, enhanced self-worth and socialization skills in special needs children and other clinical population.

On April 28, the camp will be held at Shree Mookambika Industries, opposite Shree Mookambika Temple, Kolya, NH 66 between 10 AM and 5 PM. This camp is being organised in association with Rotary Club, Mangalore East, Rotary Samudaya Dala, Kolya, Someshwar and Yuvavahini (R), Kolya Division. Here, over 40 puppies and 10 kittens will be put up for adoption.

While no adoption fee is being charged, ACT will only collect a nominal registration fee of Rs 200 to help cover the basic medical expenses incurred. Potential adopters are requested to bring a valid Photo ID for registration. After the adoption process is complete, ACT will keep in touch with the family for regular updates about vaccinations and sterilization.

About Animal Care Trust

This is the 20th year for ACT, a registered charitable trust that has been actively involved in caring for voiceless beings across Mangaluru and stands as a monument of compassion.

“Saving one animal will not change the world, but surely for that one animal, the world will change forever.” Ever since its inception this is the very thought has been motivating Animal Care Trust (ACT), its trustee, staff and volunteers to reach out to animals in distress. While on one hand ACT’s staff and volunteers rescue and rehabilitates animals that are injured, sick, abandoned, on the other it organises adoption camps for puppies and kittens with an aim to provide forever homes for them.
