Mangaluru: The All College Students Association (ACSA) has urged the government to form a separate court to conduct probe into the mysterious death of engineering student in Raichur.

Legal adviser of ACSA, Dinakar Shetty told reporters here on Saturday, April 20 that the police department had not been conducting a proper probe into the series of student suicides which has led to such incidents repeating, in the recent days. “The rape and murder of an engineering student in Raichur is a heinous crime which has tarnished the image of our state. The Karnataka State Women’s Commission should take a serious note of this issue and ensure that no such incidents happen anywhere in the state.”

Shetty also urged the government to constitute a special team and separate court to conduct probe into this issue. ACSA warned of a massive protest in the coming days, if the government failed to take action.

Meanwhile, Shetty lamented over the negligence of police in the students’ suicide cases in Dakshina Kannada district. Pointing out the suicide case of a college student in Urwa police station limits, Shetty said though the deceased student had clearly mentioned the name of the college and a person who was indirectly responsible for his extreme move, police did not take action against the college and the accused, he lamented.

Association’s State President Ashwith Kottary, District President Ibrahim Bathish, General Secretary Gurudath Malli among others were present.
