Mangalore : There are reports that ACP TR Jagannath who has been accused of sexually harassing Pandeshwar ASI Srikala, has been transferred to Bangalore.
It may be recalled here that ASI Srikala had earlier lodged a complaint with Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar that the ACP has denied leave to her and was also sexually and mentally harassing her since some time.
Several organizations including the Forum Against Atrocities on Women, DYFI, SFI had organised a protest in Mangalore recently and had demanded action against the ACP after a thorough probe.
Meanwhile, Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar had constituted a committee to look into the case. There were also reports that Srikala was being pressurized to withdraw a complaint. A person had even lodged a case of fraud against Srikala and her husband in one of the police stations in Mangalore.
ACP Jagannath has been serving the district since several years in different postings.
