75-year-old COVID-19 patient dies; District’s death toll rises to 2, state’s to 18

Mangaluru: The 75-year-old patient who tested positive for COVID-19 today (April 23) died this evening.

It can be recalled that the 75-year-old (Patient 432) is the mother-in-law of the 50-year-old woman (Patient 409) from the Bantwal taluk who died earlier this week, on Sunday. The latest victim is also a resident of the Kasba village in the Bantwal taluk.

According to the Information Department, the woman was transferred from First Neuro Hospital to the Wenlock Hospital on April 22 as she was a contact of Patient 409.

She had been admitted to First Neuro Hospital on March 16 after she suffered a stroke.

It can be recalled that First Neuro Hospital and its surrounding areas were declared a containment zone today.
