52kg Ganja seized in 2013; main accused arrested

Kasargod: The Kasargod Anti-Narcotics Cell has arrested the main accused on Wednesday June 25 in connection with the seizure of a huge amount of Ganja which took place in May 2013.
The arrested has been identified as 42-year-old Mohammed Haneef alias Batlu Haneef, a resident of Hidayatnagar in Uppala.

He had been absconding since May 2013, when the Kasargod police had seized a Tata Sumo transporting 52 kg of ganja concealed in the roof of the vehicle.

However other involved in the crime – 32-year-old KM Nawaz a resident of Kottayam and 32-year-old C H Saleem of Nileshwar were arrested, at that time . Further investigations into the case led to the arrest of Shaji, Raghu and Roy.

Later the police then got hold of some important documents that revealed Haneef as the mastermind of the drug peddling racket  which included bank account details and a diary that the police got during the raid.

Anti-Narcotics Cell DySP Suresh Babu, SI Kamalaksha, Madhu, Sreejith, Balakridhna and others were part of the investigating team.
