Mangaluru: The Bearys Welfare Forum (BWF), Abu Dhabi conducted its seventh mass marriage programme at Milagres Hall on Saturday, February 16.
A total of 14 pairs entered the wedlock in the mass marriage programme. The programme was inaugurated by Dakshina Kanada District In-charge Minister U T Khader and the marriage was solemnised by Mangaluru Khazi Al Haj Thwaka Ahmed Musliar.
After inaugurating the programme, Khader promised of taking necessary measures to release the money pending under Shadi Bhagya scheme. “I have noticed that many beneficiaries are yet to receive the money under Shadi Bhagya scheme. I will ask Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to ensure that all beneficiaries receive the money immediately under this Shadi Bhagya scheme”, he said.
Meanwhile, two achievers Dr. B Ahmed Haji Mohiuddin Thumbay and Dr. M S M Abdul Rasheed Zaini were felicitated for the lifetime community services and obtaining a doctorate in philosophy respectively on the same occasion.
BWF General Secretary Abdullah Madumoole explained the idea behind the mass marriage. BWF President Mohammed Ali Uchil presided over the programme.
During the mass marriage, each bride was provided five sovereigns of gold and Rs 10,000 cash and each bridegroom was given Rs 15,000 cash for their marriage expenditure. Prior to the programme, the attendees paid homage to the CRPF personnel who were killed in Kashmir by the terrorists two days ago.
