Work without making excuses for lack of staff: Minister Prabhu Chavan

Mandya: Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chauhan got furious with the Officials of the Department of Animal Husbandry and advised them not to give an excuse of shortage of staff.

He was reviewing the progress of work in the department and said he is aware of the shortage of staff in the dept. Further, “we have the challenge of managing our tasks with the available resources. Many families are dependent on cattle rearing and our veterinary doctors need to give more priority to the health of cattle. Pursuant to the passing of the bill on the prevention of slaughter and preservation of cattle, goshalas need to be constructed,” He said.
Minister while speaking at the press conference said “there is a proposal for animal welfare corporation and also for emergency treatment of the cattle’s ambulances equipped with latest facilities like OT, Scanning, etc., This will help the farmers as the Veterinary Hospital will come to their doorsteps”.

He also said in Cheelana Halli of Shira taluk meat processing unit at cost of Rs.44.63 crores will be set up through NABARD.

While briefing the provisions of the bill he said “The person involved in the Slaughter of cattle is liable for a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.50 thousand to 5 lakhs. More than two crimes will result in imprisonment of seven years and a fine from Rs.1 lakhs to 10 Lakhs”
