Mandya: BJP legislator Narayan Gowda, who recently sparked controversy by shouting pro-Maharashtra slogans in a recent programme held at K R Pete, has yet again made a controversial statement.
According to reports, taluk president of the Madiwala community, Siddesh had invited Narayan Gowda for a felicitation programme recently. The legislator reacted to the invitation saying, “Don’t invite me to such programmes and bring disrespect to it. Are you inviting me to a programme as a chief guest where there are thieves and criminals who went behind bars?”
“I have no objection to your programme. My community is with me and I have regards and respect for them. You are the president of the community. If you want to do politics then do it elsewhere. Will it not be wrong on my part to join thieves and criminals on stage?” he added.
It can be recalled that Narayan Gowda had raised pro-Maharashtra slogans during a stage programme in K R Pete on February 20 and had also said that he is a Kannadiga. Even though he tried to cover up the incident, he received a lot of flak in the state.
