Mandya: “We are ready to face any election in the state,” said KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, after being welcomed by the Congress party workers at Sanjay Circle on Saturday, October 19.

Speaking to the media, he said, “When observing the current political scenario, you never know when the elections will be announced. Hence, in order to win any election, be it the by-polls, Assembly elections or general elections, we are working towards strengthening our party.”

Lashing out at the BJP-led state government, Rao said, “People are very unhappy with the way that the BJP government is performing in the state. The government has failed miserably when it comes to providing good governance. Whenever and whatever you ask Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, he has a common reply. Either there is no money in the treasury or they are not able to run the government.”

“On October 22, the Supreme Court will be pronouncing its verdict on the by-polls, in which the fate of the 17 disqualified MLAs will be decided. We already decided on the candidates for 15 Assembly constituencies,” he added.

Clarifying about any future alliances with the Janata Dal (Secular), Rao said, “The party has decided that, going further, we are not going have any friendly relations with any other regional parties. We will fight the elections on our own. The JD(S) is going soft on the BJP and its left them to decide. But our party has condemned the BJP from the beginning and we will never join hands with them.”

Further, he said, “Building the nation by creating fear and violence are qualities of the BJP. We in the Congress party believe in our party’s agenda and will strengthen it.”
