Mandya: In the tense Mandya Lok Sabha election, voting continued till 9 PM at a polling booth in Pandavapura.

In Harohalli (polling booth number 90), polling continued till 9 PM as around 250 voters turned up after 5.30 PM to cast their votes.

According to the authorities, these 250 voters had earlier been to a neighboring village to attend the final rites of a villager resulting in them reaching the polling booth after 5.30 PM.

“As they were in a huge number, the voting continued till 9 PM,” informed authorities.

“In many places of the district, voting continued beyond 6 PM as the voters turned up in large numbers. Among the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies that went to polls, the highest voting percentage was reported from Mandya due to the fierce competition between the JDS-Congress alliance candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy and independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh,” they added.
