Mandya: Deputy Commissioner S Ashwati has told officials to take the necessary precautions before drinking water problem arises in the summer.
Speaking at the District Disaster Management Authority meeting held at the DC Office Auditorium, she said that every year, in the summer, the villages need to identify the problems of water in the district and look for solutions. If borewells are not possible, at least a tanker system should be done, she said. She instructed the authorities to arrange hiring in consultation with farmers.
She said that workers must be paid appropriately on time and that the District Panchayat should be aware of the problems of water in each village and provide permanent solution. “We have been supplying water from borewells for two years to address the water problem in the KR Pate taluk, but concentrate on finding a permanent solution” she said.
The problem of water in the urban area, municipal councils and urban councils is negligible. she said that the public should be aware of the lack of water in the district due to rising temperatures.
