Mandya: Karnataka, on Friday, May 15 evening, reported 24 new cases, including one death, bringing the state’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases to 1056 and the death toll to 36. Thirteen of the cases are from Mandya.
Earlier in the day, 45 new cases were reported from the state.
Of the 24 new coronavirus cases reported in the evening, three are infants.
A 52-year-old man from Bidar, who has a history of travel to Hyderabad in Telangana, lost his life to the disease today. This is the 36th COVID death reported from the state. According to the news bulletin released by the health department, he is a resident of the Chitaguppa town in Bidar. He was diagnosed with a severe acute respiratory illness and had died at a hospital on May 12. His report came back positive today.
Thirteen of the new cases are reported from Mandya, all of whom have travel history to Mumbai in Maharashtra. Four cases (including one death) have been reported from Bidar (two have contact history with a containment zone, one with travel history to Mumbai), four from Hassan (all with travel history to Mumbai) and three from Kalaburagi (one with travel history to Mumbai, one had contact with a containment zone and one has an influenza-like illness).
Of the 1056 confirmed cases in the state, 36 are deaths, one is a non-COVID death and 480 are discharges.
