Mandya: Mandya police special investigation team arrested five robbers in connection with the murder of three priests of Arkeshwar temple, located in Guttala, on outskirts of Mandya city.
According to the initial reports, among the five arrested, four are from Mandya district while fifth one is a resident of Andhra.
It is said that a few accused suffered bullet injuries when the police opened fire to thwart their escape bid.
The incident was reported near Sadarahalli gate in Mandya on the wee hours of Monday.
It can be recalled that on September 11, three priests of the temple identified as Ganesh, Prakash and Ananda were found dead in the temple premises. Their heads were smashed by the miscreants using boulders.
The miscreants fled with temple hundi money, making it evident that it was a murder for gains.
