Mandya: National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) member Jagadish Hiremani has directed the Maddur and Pandvapura municipal corporations’ chief officials to dismiss three civic workers for doing clerical work.
Chairing the review meeting of the safai karmachari on Wednesday, January 8, he said, “Two labourers from the Pandvapura Municipal Corporation and one from the Maddur Municipal Corporation, who were appointed as civic workers, were found working as clerks. Stringent action against such workers was ordered in previous review meetings. I would like to ask the director of the urban development department N Narasimhamurthy why the necessary actions weren’t taken.”
To Narasimhamurthy’s reply that it was the duty of the Municipal Corporation chief officials, and irked Jagadish asked, “If the chief officers were to take action, why are you even in the position of a director of urban development? You have chosen those workers only because they belong to a particular caste. I want them to be removed immediately and have a report submitted to me and appoint those who are really eligible.”
Additionally, it was brought to Jagadish’s notice that a person, who was appointed as a cook in the social welfare department, was working as a clerk. He then directed the concerned officials to take strict action in the matter.
