K R Pete: A dramatic scene was witnessed in here on Monday, November 18 when BJP candidate (disqualified MLA) K C Narayan Gowda was filing his nomination, as a group of miscreants hurled slippers at him and state law minister J C Madhu Swamy.
As per reports, JD(S) and BJP party workers had gathered in large numbers for Narayana Gowda’s nomination filing procession. Soon, tensions between members of the two cadres rose and a massive verbal spat erupted. At this point in time, miscreants who were waiting for this opportunity, threw slippers at the candidate, minister and party workers.
Holding the JD(S) party workers responsible for the act, Narayan Gowda said, “I was also a part of the JD(S), but I had never inculcated such qualities. Have you all come here to show hooliganism?”
Asking the people to remain where they were, he said that he wanted to find out why slippers were hurled at them and waded into the crowd.
The police personnel who were present, tried to calm him down, causing him to criticize them and term fiasco a ‘security lapse’.
It can be recalled that Monday, November 18 is the last day for candidates of the 15 Assembly constituencies to file their nominations as the segments will be going to polls on December 5. Counting will be held on December 9.
