MP Sumalatha Ambareesh gets back to work after recovering from COVID-19

Mandya: Actor-turned-politician and Member of Parliament from the Mandya constituency Sumalatha Ambareesh has returned back to work after recovering from COVID-19 about a week ago.

According to Entertainment Time, Sumalatha took to her social media accounts on Tuesday, August 11, and announced that she is heading over to her constituency to check on some work.

In her post, she attached a selfie and wished her followers and friends.

“MP duties resume again.. headed to Mandya, my constituency after 5 weeks… this time as a Covid Survivor..” she wrote on her social media account.

Sumalatha, who had mild symptoms during the period in which she was infected, was under home quarantine for around three weeks, post which she announced that she had recovered and that she had been advised to take rest for a couple of weeks.

After recovering from the disease, Sumalatha spoke out against the shaming of COVID-19 survivors and was also vocal about how one must look after their mental health while recovering.

Post her recovery, Sumalatha spoke to the Bangalore Times about how one must trust their doctor and believe what their body is telling them. She emphasised how there was nothing to be ashamed of when one tests positive for the virus. “The coronavirus has brought out the worst side of humanity,” she had told BT and that everyone must try their best not to contract the disease. “If you do get it, it is not the end of the world,” she had added.
