Minister Shettar stresses on augmentation to industries in tier II, III cities

Mandya: Industries Minister Jagdish Shettar said that importance shall be given to develop industries in Mandya as it lies between Bengaluru and Mysuru districts. He added that all the encouragement to start industries in the region will be provided by him as minister for the same.

Addressing the Industrial Development Progress Review Meeting held at Deputy Commissioner Office Auditorium on Tuesday March 2, he said that new policy for industrial development for the year 2020-21 has been formulated wherein despite Bengaluru being the central hub, steps will also be taken to establish industries in tier II and tier III cities. Several amendments to norms have been made and it has been made easier for entrepreneurs to get basic facilities, tax concessions among others, he added.

Further, he stressed on the struggle faced by the entrepreneurs at present to buy land, which he said will henceforth be made smooth with amendments to the policy. This amendment entails entrepreneurs to seek permission from the deputy commissioner for the concerned project, which would be given due priority and armed with the DC’s no objection certificate, they can easily set up industries and also an extension of units, he informed adding that no more running around in government offices. He added that the industries department under the minister has already encouraged investors to move towards tier II and III cities.

Minister informed that the government is also in the process of taking back the unused land, which was bought for industrial purposes and stated that such land cannot be sold. In order to encourage small scale industries, a sum of ? 3 lakh subsidy has been made available to them under Atmanirbhar Project. It is up to the states to implement the same and strengthen industries thereby, he added.

During the occasion, the deputy commissioner was directed to hold meetings to resolve issues of industrialists every month at the district level. District In-charge Minister K. C. Ashwathanarayan Gowda, Maddur MLA D. C. Thammanna, Mandya MLA M Srinivas, deputy commissioner S Ashwathi and zilla panchayat CEO Zulfikar among others were present.
