Mandya: Kame Gowda, the ‘Lake Man of Karnataka’ has been tested positive for COVID-19.
The 85-year-old Gowda, who was recently lauded by Prime Minister Modi for his efforts in environmental conservation lives at Kalmane of Dasanadoddi village of Malvalli taluk.
It is said that he was suffering from leg pain, due to which he was under medication. It is also said that he was going to the hospital almost everyday for treatment after the hospital denied admission.
Kame Gowda has to his credit the fame of digging several ponds to mitigate water crisis in his village. His work has benefited scores of people.
He has also received Karnataka Rajyotsava Award.
