Jalashakti Abhiyan organised for two days in Mandya

Mandya: Under the Mahatma Gandhi Rashtriya Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, all the village panchayats in Mandya taluk have launched Jalashakti Abhiyan for two days to protect rain water, said Taluk Panchayat Assistant Director H.R Shrinivas.

As part of the Jalashakti Abhiyan, he spoke after initiating the rival works of ancient Kalyani of Varakodappa temple in Tirumalapuram village of Mandya Taluk in Basarala village. He said that the renovation work of the Kalyani will be carried out before the rainy season begins.

“The comprehensive development of the lake is with the objective of conserving the water on a day to day basis for the use of farmers on the farm, construction of village panchayats, rehabilitation of nalas, building of dams, construction of pools, sock pit, multi-arch check dam and panchayat drinking water.” He said that the construction of the pit and rain water harvesting works for the government buildings is being prepared as a three-month action plan.
