Mandya: The serial protests being staged by farmers of Mandya, demanding the release of water from the Krishna Raja Sagara dam citing the drying crops and shortage of drinking water, continued on Friday, July 5.

The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) activists of Maddur and Srirangapatna, along with various other organisations, expressed their outrage against the district administration, district in-charge minister and the chief minister, by staging a road block and shouting slogans against the government.

The protesters said that the state government was playing hate politics. “Already 60 tonnes of sugarcane has dried up in V C Farm village. The government and the district administration should give compensation to the farmers who lost their crops. The chief minister is ignoring the farmers of the district to avenge the defeat of his son in the Lok Sabha election,” alleged the protesters.

KRRS Chief Secretary Manjesh Gowda, member Nagendraswamy, Dalita Sangharsha Samithi State Convener Guruprasad Keragodu, Maralagala Krishnegowda, Swamygowda, Karave Shankar, Harish, Ravichandra among hundreds of farmers and leaders of various organisations took part in the protest.
