Mandya: Deputy Commissioner S. Ashwati said that the district Sports Festival will include various sports events in order to encourage the public to participate.
Speaking at the preliminary meeting at the District Secretariat, she suggested that the sports competition which will be held in the month of April-May, to be organized in three age categories – under 26, more than 26 and senior citizens- for women and men.
Kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, throwball, cricket, shot put, javelin throw, road running, rural and country games, rangoli competition, weightlifting and wrestling will be some of the games at the festival. She also said that the ballet competition, three-leg race, water-bearing and many such competitions were also organized to encourage the public to participate.
“Prioritize the participation of woman and identify appropriate places to organize competitions,” she stated. She also said that the team should make sure that the names of the participants are registered in advance so that there will be no confusion.
Deputy Collector of Pandavapura, Shailaja, Deputy Superintendent of Pandavpura, Shivanandamurthy, Sports Officer, Anita KR Pate, Tahsildar Sivamoorthy, News Officer TK Harish and others were present at the meeting.
