Mandya: A woman in Mandya and a woman in Puttur had a major reason to celebrate on the election day. Soon after casting their vote on April 18, the two women delivered their babies.

Mangala Naveen from Chikkamaralli of Mandya and Meenakshi from Urlandi in Puttur gave birth to babies after casting votes on Thursday.

Manjula is a Taluk Panchayat member of Chikkamaralli and her family has confirmed that she and her newborn baby girl are safe and healthy.

Meanwhile, Meenakshi was admitted to the hospital as she went into labour on April 18. Despite the pain, she first decided to cast her vote and then head to the hospital.

“She is a huge Narendra Modi fan. She is glad that her valuable vote did not go waste as she could exercise her franchise,” said Yogananda, Meenakshi’s husband. She gave birth to a baby girl and both the newborn and the mother are fine.
