Mandya: Within an hour after Sumalata announced her candidature from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency as an independent, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy held a review meeting with the party’s district leaders at a hotel in the city. The meeting was attended by district in-charge minister C S Puttaraju, transport minister D C Thammanna and all the MLAs from the district.
In the meeting, the CM asked all the JDS leaders to give their honest feedback about the prevailing situation in the constituency. According to sources, a few JDS leaders warned that if actors like Darshan and Yash launch campaigns, it may pose a serious challenge to his son Nikhil.
HDK directed the party leaders to carry out the campaign systematically and warned the leaders against making any controversial statements against Sumalata.
According to sources, a leader urged the CM to ask PWD minister H D Revanna to make a public apology regarding his statement against Sumalata.
Meanwhile, both Sumalata and Nikhil will visit various parts of the Mandya district on Tuesday and hold meetings with the voters.
