Mandya: After backing independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh in the Lok Sabha polls, now the BJP is making all possible attempts to bag the KR Pete Assembly segment in Mandya district in the upcoming by-elections. A masterplan has been made and as a part of this, massive funds have been announced for the assembly segment. It is said that a sum of Rs 33.70 cr has been announced for this region.

KR Pete MLA Narayana Gowda is one of the 17 MLAs who revolted against the coalition government of the Congress and the JDS. The disgruntled MLAs were the reason behind the fall of the coalition and victory of the BJP. However, all the 17 MLAs were disqualified by the then Speaker Ramesh Kumar.

Mandya has never been a conventional BJP supporting pocket. Keeping this in mind, the BJP has almost made it sure that the party’s ticket will be issued to Gowda, without any deviation. The supporters of Gowda have been making a lot of noise over the social media, supporting the BJP, talking about the massive funds that have been earmarked for the region.

The supporters are now justifying the reason behind Gowda’s resignation. They have time and again, in the past said that Gowda resigned due to negligence of the coalition government, which was not releasing funds for the development of the region. With the allocation of Rs 33.70 cr, the supporters of Gowda have been telling voters to respect the fact that their MLA quit the government only for them and for the development of the region.

They have also been telling that present Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has responded to the proposals that were kept pending by the coalition government.
