Mandya: An autorickshaw driver has been held for raping and getting a minor girl of 15 years pregnant in the pretext of marrying her in Sheelanere of Channapura village at K. R. Pet Taluk here in the district.
The man arrested under POCSO Act has been identified as Lakshman (24). It is said that he started a love affair and convinced her to have a physical relationship. M It is alleged that he also threatened her not to inform her family about the same and she conceded. Thereafter, he continued having physical relationship with her.
However, soon her family found out the truth when they took her to doctor for examination when she vomitted and complained of stomach pain. The doctor on scanning revealed to the parents that she was four-month pregnant. This prompted the girl to reveal the truth to her parents, who then lodged a complaint.
After the parents filed a complaint with the K. R. Pet police station, the Circle Inspector M. K. Deepak made the arrest and the accused was produced in the court. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
