Madikeri: Scores of people gathered outside Kutta Primary Health Centre to protest against the death of a taxi driver, who succumbed to cardiac arrest in the corridor of the PHC waiting for medical help.
Mani, 48, is the taxi driver who died in the PHC on Tuesday morning. As per sources, Mani had developed chest pain. He drove himself to the PHC, but even after waiting at the PHC, there were no doctors or nurses to attend him. He died waiting for help.
The PHC had witnessed one death a week ago. A four-year-old girl had died in the PHC waiting for medical help just like Mani.
When people came to know about the second death, they could not contain their anger. They staged a stir by blocking the national highway connecting Kerala and Nagarahole and demanded immediate recruitment of doctor and nurses.
