Madikeri: The Meteorology Department has issued Red Alert in the district till August 15 morning and Orange Alert till August 16. The department has said that heavy rains will be experienced in the district from Wednesday night to Thursday morning and moderate rainfall from Thursday morning to August 16 morning.
There are possibilities of landslides during the heavy rains and in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Anis Joy has asked the people living in hilly terrain to remain alert.

Meanwhile, the fire personnel have rescued more than 800 persons in the district so far. Kodagu had witnessed torrential rain and massive floods last year.
