Madikeri: State revenue minister R Ashok has said that the Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops (RTC) shall be made for those landowners who have not been officially documented and in this way, create awareness.

After a meeting in the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday, October 17, with concerned officials and MLAs, he said, “Documents which have issues shall be dealt with separately and the ones without any issues will be cleared immediately. It is also not ethical to put aside all the faulty documents, but act on it by informing the concerned people.”

Ashok then directed Deputy Commissioner Anees Kanmani Joy on the same.

MLA K G Bopaiah said, “People whose documents are still registered in the name of the ancestors and not transferred to the descendants, such are facing issues when it comes to availing government facilities. Hence, the awareness of transfer of RTC will help many people.”

MLC M P Sunil Subramani agreed and made similar comments.

Both Bopaiah and Subramani informed Ashok that some people have built houses in estates and not converted their land, just for the sake of doing business.

They also informed the minister about the issues faced by the district due to the floods and said that land, which was above 20 cents, shall be available for construction of houses as well as business purposes.

The minister was also informed that some of the owners were not ready to convert their land because there were no proper road facilities, causing them a lot of issues.

Later, the minister directed the concerned officials to notify proper land and construct houses for the flood victims.

Meanwhile, he also insisted that the home-stays in the district be registered for security reasons and information be collected by the officials of the Revenue and Panchayat Raj departments.
