Police nab three, including minor, in fake note racket

Madikeri: The city police have nabbed three persons for allegedly using counterfeit Rs 2000 currency notes. Five fake notes have been confiscated by the police.

Two of the accused have been identified as Amir Sohail (20), from Madikeri’s Kunjila and U Y Yunis (20), from the Virajpet taluk’s Nalkeri village. The third accused is a minor. The three are alleged to be active members of a counterfeiting racket.

Reportedly, on October 10 at around 4 PM, the three visited a shop in the city, where Amir Sohail tried to use a fake note. The proprietor of the shop had a doubt about the note and immediately informed the police.

Based on this information, a team led by district Police Superintendent, Suman D. Pennaker, DYSP of Madikeri Sub Division, B.P. Dinesh Kumar, Madikeri Circle Inspector Anoop Madappa and Deputy Inspector Sadashiva succesfully apprehended the culprits.

An investigation into the case is now underway.
