Madikeri: Polling officials on Wednesday, November 20, reportedly seized thousands of sarees that were being moved to the K R Pete Assembly constituency.
The sarees, which were being transported in a car, are said to be under the name of BJP candidate from the K R Pete Assembly segment, Narayan Gowda.
A team of polling officers led by polling inspector Ashok, seized these sarees.
The bundle of sarees, along with a photo of BJP candidate Narayan Gowda and Diwali wishes, were seized at the Sakshi Beedu village of the Mandya taluk. They were being transported in a Maruti Omni car bearing the registration number KA – 05 – M E – 0599. The car driver is identified as Venkat Reddy.
The polling officials have handed over the driver and his assistant, Kumar to the rural police station.
ASI Shivakumar has filed a case and has begun an investigation.
