Madikeri Municipal Elections: DC’s Instructions

Madikeri: Deputy Commissioner Charulata Somal has instructed the officials to take necessary steps to organize the backdrop of the municipal polls.

Speaking at a meeting held on Thursday, April 1 to disciss the preparation of the polls in the town’s office, she said that the Municipality should follow the direction and guidelines of the Election Commission. We are required to comply with the order issued by the Election Commission from time to time.

The town’s 23 wards should concentrate on the draft voters’ list, final voters’ list, wardwise booths, centers, among others. DC directed to appoint one election officer and assistant polling officer for every 8 wards, as well as to arrange for the establishment of a security room and mustering and de-mustering. She pointed out that the quality of the booths should be maintained.

Raju Mogaveera, additional Deputy Commissioner, giving information about the preparation for the municipal elections, said to take up tasks such as the opening of an election officer’s office, training of booth officers and many more.

Tahsildar Mahesh said that the security room, mustering and demustering will be at St. Joseph’s School. The final voter list is scheduled to be published on April 4, and if there is any error, visit the office of the concerned officials and the Tahsildars and get information, he said.

He also said that the polling booths have been marked for elections wardwise and an additional booths will be built if there are more than 1400 voters.

Administrator of the Kodagu Medical Sciences Institute Dr. Nanjundegouda said that the election manual should be provided.
