Madikeri: The Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy has completed 25 years and a Silver Jubilee celebration will be held on June 8 and 9 to mark the occasion. A preliminary meeting presided over by the academy President Pemmanda K Ponnappa was held in this regard at the Cauvery College, Gonikoppal, on Tuesday, April 23. Members of various Kodava organisations attended the meeting.
Pemmanda K Ponnappa requested the academy members and all who attended the meeting to cooperate and extend their support to make the silver jubilee event a success. The academy members have decided that a final meeting will be held on May 3.
President of Madikeri Kodava Samaja, Nandhetira Raja Madappa, shared his thoughts on unveiling a memorial to mark the occasion.
Discussions were held regarding the release of Kodava language books, book exhibition and sales, display of traditional Kodava items, printing photos of high ranking officers who served the Indian Army and organising Kodava cultural programmes.
Elders of the community, office-bearers of the academy and various Kodava organisations shared their ideas.
Former president of the academy, Bacharaniyanda Appanna, former president Imudiyanda Rani Machaiah, President of Cauvery Education Society, Ajjinikanda Ganapathi, Registrar Mookalamada Monnappa, Principal of Cauvery College Ushalatha and many others were present.
