adikeri: It seems like the rain God is not pleased with the people’s prayers to stop the rains from pouring down and devastating normal life. In the last 24 hours, the rains have gained intensity and are showing symptoms of only getting worse.

To add to the woes of the people, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more heavy rains in the coastal districts as well as the Malnad region due to the low pressure over the Arabian Sea.

The department has alerted Kodagu’s district administration to issue an orange and yellow alert from October 20 to 23 and October 23 to 24, respectively.

As per the IMD’s predictions, for the first three days, the rains will range between 115.50 and 204.4 mm and on the last day, rains between 64.5 and 115.50 mm are expected.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Anees Kanmani Joy has informed the people living in the hilly and lower areas to be cautious.

Areas like Madikeri, Bhagamandala, and Virajpet are witnessing maximum rainfall. Somwarpet also has observed a good amount of rainfall.
