Madikeri: “There is no need for the Muslims to get worried and confused about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)”, said MLA K G Bopaiah.
Flagging off the pro-CAA campaign on Sunday he said, “I urge the people of the state to not lend your ears to false and fake information against CAA. Kindly understand that CAA clearly states that it has nothing to do with the Muslims. There is no point in fighting against the Act when you don’t know it correctly. It has been implemented, keeping in mind the social fabric of the country. It is the duty of a true citizen of this country to respect the law and adhere to it.”
Slamming the Opposition, Bopaiah said, “The Act will help the religious minorities from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, who have suffered a lot there, to have the citizenship of this country. The National Register of Citizens is not yet drafted, but the Opposition parties and some of the organizations are spreading false information and instigating the Muslims of this country.”
He urged the BJP party workers to inform, educate and create awareness among the people of the district in booth and village levels on CAA.
Meanwhile, several other leaders opined the same as Bopaiah.
