Kodagu: Tourists in Kodagu were made to clean up after themselves after they were caught littering on Chettalli Road in the district. According to reports, the tourists, who were on the way to Mysuru, had ordered pizza from a Domino’s outlet in Madikeri and left the boxes on the side of the road.
Activist Madettira Thimmaiah, a former secretary of the Kadagadalu gram panchayat in Kodagu, saw the tourists discarding the boxes. He went through the discarded boxes, found the bill, and found the phone number printed on the same. He contacted the tourists and asked them to return to the scene and properly discard the boxes in the dustbin.
When the tourists refused to return, stating that they were already near Periyapatna, Madettira said that he would wait for them even for three hours if he needed to do so. The activist also contacted the local police and informed officer Anup Madappa of the incident.
Soon, the tourists returned to the scene and cleared the area. The incident was filmed and the video went viral on social media.
In another video, the activist shows that the tourists have taken the boxes with them. He also thanked the tourists and requested them to keep Kodagu clean.
The people of Kodagu have praised and appreaciated Madettira for his efforts.
