The rural areas of North Kodagu celebrates traditional Honnaru Festival

Kushalnagar: The Honnaru Festival was celebrated by the Village Temple Committee in the rural areas of the North Kodagu as part of the Ugadi festival on Wednesday, April 14.

The Honnaru festival was discontinued last year due to the covid-19, but this year it was celebrated in the premises of the village temple with maintaining a social distancing and following other Covid norms prescribed by the government of Karnataka.

After the peasants brought their oxen to the temple and worshiped them, they returned to their farms and started the agricultural activities of the new year by plowing.

Torenuru village temple committee President HB Chandrappa, Vice President TT Prakash, Secretary TH Somachari, Gram Panchayat member TC Shivakumar, former President of the Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishad TG Premkumar TB Jagadeesh, TN Shankaraiah, TS Tungaraj, TB Manjunath, Jayappa, Prakash, and others were present on the occasion.
