Kodagu: In preparation for President Ramnath Kovind’s visit to Madikeri, Bhagamandala, and Talacauvery on February 6, the security has been strengthened in the Kodagu district.

The district administration has banned the entry of devotees to Talacauvery from February 6-7, and the General Thimaya Memorial Museum ha been kept under the protection of the armed forces.

He is expected to arrive at the helipad at Chettimani at 11:30 am and will travel to Talacauvery in a car. He will reach Madikeri after offering puja in a chopper.

For the inauguration of the museum, as per tightened security norms, the district administration has only allowed 50 people. Even media people haven’t been permitted to cover the event.

As the President’s convoy passes by in the neighbourhood, all shops and houses will be closed, and residents have been instructed to use the backdoor during the time.

According to Azeez, a Siddapura resident, he mentioned on a social media site that such rules were not enforced when President APJ Abdul Kalam visited the district in 2006.
